Description Ali Akcaagac 2005-07-23 17:25:05 UTC
I would like to request two features:

a) print the current visible page. Sometimes I want to print one page out of a
big document and then need to fiddle around with the GNOME printerUI dialog to
select the range of the pages that I want to print. It's often quite irritating
and time consuming.

b) print in reverse order. Specially interesting if you want to print a longer
document or a job application. So the first visible page is the last one that
gets printed (so it shows up ontop of the whole printout). That saves a lot of
time to sorting the entire document afterwards e.g. reversing the entire
document manually. This feature will allow me to grab the ready printed
document, put it in a folder and then sent it to whatever place instantly.

These may depend on libgnomeprintui changes, I'm not sure
Comment 2 Ali Akcaagac 2005-08-02 12:50:37 UTC
Dunno if these are libgnomeprint/ui changes, but then I am using what will
become GNOME 2.12 soon :).

But really I would be happy if you could support this layout thingy as you can
see in the attachment, so people would be able to print 2 pages on 1 sheet, 4
pages on one sheet and so on. Works perfectly with Gedit and stuff like that but
doesn't with Evince.

This would be an urgent request too. Better support with libgnomeprint/ui.
Comment 4 Ali Akcaagac 2005-11-06 00:23:15 UTC
Can I see any progress in this direction ? It's quite frustrating to see Evince
not obeying these rules. Saying that this is a libgnomeprintui change isn't
valid anymore since they exists for GNOME 2.12 which Evince became part of.

I'm sorry, but I don't think anyone is working on this currently. We'd like
to get printing working nicely, but we are lacking enough developers right now.

Ali, let's split this requests. This bug will be about printing current page. I
think it's possible with modification of gnomeprintui dialog (just adding new
radio like this:

1. All pages
2. Page range
3. Current page

About printing in reverse order we have bug 320919, let discuss request there. I
think it would be easy fix this feature will be implemented through handling
page range in reverse order. Comment in bug 320919, is such solution acceptable
for you or not.

No problems, please do so.

This is already fixed with GTK+ printing system.
