GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 310992
Best wrogly recognizes KMails Maildir mails as text files
Last modified: 2005-07-26 14:31:57 UTC
Distribution/Version: SUSE 9.3 Hello Everybody i added each folder of Kmail Maildir format mails to beagle's root, then beagle indexed, now if i search a word that contains in my mail in best, best shows the filename of corresponding mail instead of subject as result's tiltle, this is not a big problem although, but when i click that file. instead of opening it via kmail it opens that exact mail via kwrite, i tried to open that same maildir file via gnome-open and gnome-open correctly opened kmail containing that exact mail. this behaviour is not for specific mail, it applies to all mails, GMime version is 2.1.15-0
Is the mime type detected correctly? What is at the top of the file? This is probably a duplicate of bug 310462.
Update from my end, i thourghly investigated my problem. Beagle indexes only mails that are detected by gnomevfs as text files, so there it uses text filter, and obviously opens kwrite, gnomevfs marks all my mails plain/text, because all my mails headers start with X-Gmail-Received: so i need to rewrite them, ok but one mail correctly detected by gnome-vfs as mail but beagle didn't index it why? do i need to dig into logs?
What do you mean when you say "didn't index it"? That you tried to search for something and didn't get a hit? Or was there an error in the logs?
i unbeknowningly told you wrong results, actually i expected files recognized as mails would appearing in "Mails" section in best when searching, but files both recognized as text and recognized as mail still appear in "Files" section in best, i don't like that behaviour, Maildir mails recognized as is must appear in "Mails" section in best, and instead of using raw file name as result's entry heading, best must use subject of mail, expecting your reply
