GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 310082
if defaults can't be changed, no useful error message given
Last modified: 2009-10-10 00:13:15 UTC
Please describe the problem: I can't change the default application, say from eog to evince. Steps to reproduce: 1. right-click on a file which has more than one handler installed 2. select 'properties' 3. select 'open with' tab 4. attempt to change the default handler- it fails Actual results: Expected results: Does this happen every time? Other information:
this is a showstopper for 2.12.
what does it do? You can change the selection but it doesn't store it? It works fine here but I've to click on the rond on the start of the line, not on the label or something else
Doesn't change selection, doesn't do anything- just sits. And yeah, i've clicked on both the label and the radio button. Weird. I'll try to check with my non-self-compiled nautilus later today.
So it turns out that I'd done something odd, so my $XDG_DATA_HOME was somewhere unreadable. So I couldn't change things. So mostly my bug, unlikely to bite in the real world. But it would be nice if Nautilus's failure mode was more useful.
After the migration to GIO we show an error dialog in this case, so this is OBSOLETE.
