GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 308884
Files copied/moved in wrong order
Last modified: 2005-07-07 10:19:49 UTC
Version details: Applies to older versions as well Distribution/Version: Debian/Sarge Select multiple files or folders, copy them to a different folder. You'll notice that if you selected files, they will be copied in reverse alphabetical order, independent of the order in which they were selected. If you copy folders, the folders themselves will be processed in reverse alphabetical order, but their contents in alphabetical order. This is not really a bug, but with the profileration of mp3 players with simplistic file system drivers it becomes quite annoying; most of these simple devices simply play their contents in the same order as they appear in the filesystem's FAT, which is the same order as they were copied onto the device. The net result of this is that when you copy albums of which the filenames of the tracks start with the track number as to keep them playing in the correct order, will be played in reverse order.
same with the current version
