Description Sankarshan Mukhopadhyay 2005-06-21 05:20:57 UTC
This is a Feature Request for enabling Password Locking of Local Folders. The
need is felt by users who usually use mobile computing platforms susceptible to
widespread use
Comment 1 Nagappan Alagappan 2005-06-21 06:28:34 UTC
Sankarshan: You want each individual local folders to be password protected ?
Comment 2 Sankarshan Mukhopadhyay 2005-06-21 06:30:03 UTC
Ideally, the option should be provided to the users so that they can choose each
individual folders
Comment 3 Jeffrey Stedfast 2005-06-21 15:10:09 UTC
there's nothing that can reasonably be done here for security.

If users are concerned about losing their mobile computers and someone finding
it and reading their private email, then their only hope is to use an encrypted
filesystem (which exist, btw).

anything short of that is make-believe.
Comment 4 Helge Hielscher 2005-07-26 04:41:36 UTC
What about encrypting mail in IMAP folders?
Comment 5 Jeffrey Stedfast 2005-07-26 15:11:11 UTC
Helge: please enlighten me as to how that can be done from the client... it can't.
