Description Jim Cornette 2005-06-21 00:57:49 UTC
A lot of users desire the browser mode as the default setting. I am one that
likes browser mode rather than opening every click with another window.
The browser mode is chosen by a lot of people and should be easy to select this
option. Maybe a button can be added on spacial to choose "default as browser"
and one can be added on the browser mode to "default mode spacial"

I can easily change it back to the more preferred mode. I feel others just
switch to another file manager.

I use mc in the shell more than nautilus. gmc might be better to consider than
nautious with this mode as preferred.

There is a preference for this since 2.8.x. Feel free to enable it, it should be
much easier than going back to gmc or using a different file manager.
Comment 2 Jim Cornette 2005-06-21 22:22:14 UTC
I'm trying to find elements to get gmc up and running to compare it. Before
nautilus, I used gmc when the option was available to use either.

I enabled nautilus in browser using both methods, the "Configuration Editor" and
through the preferences, always use browse.

The problem is with having to inform new users and users that have finally
upgraded to inflicted versions that have better default behaviors.

Popping up an NT4, 1988 apple "look and feel" is not a good face to put onto a
file managers default actions.

The reason for the default is smoke and mirrors with a wagon of "magic tonic".
The spacial mode is outragious.

Take care!
