GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 307031
Doesn't notice end of track
Last modified: 2005-12-30 12:49:01 UTC
I have this CD, the soundtrack for Fiddler on the Roof. When I try to rip it in sound-juicer, sound-juicer will encode the first track and then keep going. The track progress bar will remain full and the album bar will continue until full. Once it is, sound-juicer will move to the next track but do the same thing and encode the rest of the disc. So I end up with a file for track 1 that includes the whole CD, a file for track 2 that includes all but the first song, etc. As far as I can tell, this is specific to Fiddler on the Roof as I encode other CDs fine. The CD does not seem to be scratched or dirty.
Maybe it's copy protected?
I *think* this is a known GStreamer bug, Ronald would know.
I'm also experiencing this also with every CD I've tried so far. None of them are copy protected AFAIK.
same issue here. Drowngrading gst-plugins from 0.8.9 to 0.8.8 fixes the issue
http://cvs.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gst-plugins/ext/cdparanoia/gstcdparanoia.c?only_with_tag=BRANCH-GSTREAMER-0_8&view=log Last commit (6 days ago) to gstreamer cd-paranoia plug-in says "Unbreak sound-juicer", dunno if that refers to that problem or to something else
OK. After further investigations, you are all right. It's not just that CD -- I should have verified others more rigorously, sorry. Also, if I downgrade gst-plugins and gst-plugins-cdparanoia to 0.8.8, it works again.
I can confirm this bug. As Michael said, if you downgrade to 0.8.8 it works, but gst-plugins > 0.8.8 seem to break sound-juicer where it doesn't notice the end of tracks.
The "unbreak sound-juicer" patch is about checking for the end of the track, so I think it's safe to say that this is fixed.
