Description Christian Güdel 2005-05-23 12:30:25 UTC
it would be nice if we have beagle indexing the skype files...
Comment 1 Joe Shaw 2005-05-23 14:57:15 UTC
Edd Dumbill mentioned this on the list earlier this month:

Anybody working on a plugin for Skype IM logs? They seem to be in
$HOME/.Skype/<yournick>/IMHistory and look easily parseable.
Comment 2 Paul Betts 2006-06-14 21:55:42 UTC
Unfortunately, this isn't the case anymore; now they're stored in a really obfuscated binary format, and Skype's API doesn't appear to have methods to query the log. Perhaps a request to the Skype devs to add the API would be helpful?
Comment 3 Johannes Buchner 2008-03-02 22:29:38 UTC
Good news everyone!

I analyzed the file format, and documented my findings.
I wrote Python classes you can reuse.

Feel free to contact me.
Comment 4 André Klapper 2018-07-03 09:53:56 UTC
Beagle is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes in early 2011. Its codebase has been archived (see bug 796735):
https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/beagle/commits/master

"tracker" is an available alternative.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect
reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project
to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is deprecated) if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.
