Description Thomas M. Hinkle 2005-05-09 21:10:52 UTC
"Immendio Gossip" tells the new user nothing about what the program does.
The program should be called
"Gossip Instant Messanger"
or
"Gossip Internet Messenger" (parallel with "Gaim Instant Messanger")

Which menu are you refering to?

My "Internet" menu on Fedora Core 3 says "IM" for Gaim and really should be
expanded to something similar to what you suggest.

I agree this should be "Gossip Instant Messenger from the Gnome/Red Hat menus
but it is up to Micke to have the final word on this one since it is his company
name on the product / Imendio web site.

Imendio will still be in the about box of course.

I'm talking about the Menu entry in the "Application/Internet" menu (Ubuntu
Hoary). I believe this comes from the name given in the .desktop file for the app.

As to the branding question, fwiw I filed a similar bug on "Immendio Blam" and
they removed the "Immendio" in the fixed new menu name. That said, the bug isn't
really in the use of "Immendio", it's in the failure to identify the program as
an instant messanger.

Agree, we should call it "Gossip Instant Messenger", no problem with removing the company name.
Comment 4 Martyn Russell 2005-05-12 21:21:18 UTC
Fixed.
