GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 302904
Evolution prints messages with the default font only.
Last modified: 2008-06-27 03:27:34 UTC
Version details: Also in 2.0 and 2.1 Distribution/Version: Fedora Core 3 and 4 1) Tools->Settings (or Edit->Preferences) 2) Click "Mail Preferences" on left 3) _Un_check "Use same fonts as other applications" checkbox 4) Set both fonts to "MiscFixed 11" Open a mail message, then File->Print or File->Print Preview. The message text dos not show up.
It might have something to do with MiscFixed being a bitmap font?
probably. but this isn't mailer code so I dunno
Looks to be a generalized problem with gnome apps printing bitmaps fonts. See this downstream discussion in Red Hat bugzilla: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=141876#c8
there are also postings on evolution mailing list about this, therepore confirming. also adding printing keyword.
It seems to be printing the mail but the fonts are not MiscFixed which we set in the mail preferences. The print comes fine but the fonts are the default. So this bug is still valid.
The gtkhtml versions I am using on my test machine are: gtkhtml2-3.6.2.0.200505251324-0.snap.novell.0.1 libgtkhtml-2.6.1-2.1
Changing summary.

I'm running Sylpheed-Claws, that uses the Gnome print engine too. The problem does not seem to be restricted to bitmap fonts. I've tried with Adobe PostScript fonts and whatever I found on my system. The only thing that seems to work is Monospace. Any other font generates either nothing or unreadable gibberish.
Is this different from bug 301586 ? There seem to be at least three different bugs about message font size in the bugzilla...
Bumping version to a stable release.
The font kerning patch in bug #446894 fixes this. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 446894 ***
