GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 302704
Thumbnails for directories
Last modified: 2015-12-18 18:20:23 UTC
I have most of my pictures nicely sorted into various directories. But the names of the directories can't be always descriptive. I'd like to propose an option to display stroe and display thumbnails for directories. It could be either the first picture in the directory, several first pictures merged (like in zgv) or maybe even user-selected picture. It would be nice to also display thumbnails for archive files.
This sounds an awful lot like bug #84927
This was asked for in https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gthumb/+bug/37777 as well.
Well, I don't think it's the same. In the https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gthumb/+bug/37777 bug the user seems to be asking to display contents of a directory immediately after clicking on its name in the tree view. At least it seems so to me. What I ask for, is to display the directories themselves among other files in the 'content' view, with thumbnails generated from their contents -- for example, the first and the last image from the directory mixed together in some way. See how zgv (not xzgv) does it if I'm unclear.
Marking as obsolete, as this was reported for an unspecified / now-unsupported version and no recent activity has occurred. Please feel free to reopen this bug report if it describes a bug that still occurs with a current version of gThumb.
