I would like to be able to use the multimedia keys on my keyboard (especially
mute and/or pause), even if my screen is locked.

This would be generally useful for other applications such as Workrave, but I
guess it's primarily a GNOME screen saver thing.

I can understand if you don't want to do this if you believe it's a security
issue (however I don't believe it is a significant one).

According to its developer, xscreensaver is not under active development anymore.

It is unlikely that there will be any further active development.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping - Please feel
free to reopen this bug report in the future if anyone takes the responsibility
for active development again.
