If you start Evolution from a terminal, is there any output?
Is this a POP account or IMAP?

Please add as much information as you can to diagnose your problem.
Comment 2 Gerardo Marin 2004-07-05 22:05:58 UTC
And reopen this report when you do so.
Comment 3 Jeffrey Stedfast 2004-07-05 22:29:50 UTC
are you in offline mode?
Comment 4 Khasim Shaheed 2005-03-31 15:31:12 UTC
If you open a second instance of evolution the right side pane which
displays mails list will be empty. But if you click on some other
folder and come back to 'Inbox' all the mails will be displayed.
Probably the reporter would have closed the first instance of evolution.

I am able to reproduce this with IMAP. In the console through which i
opened second instance of Evolution has displyed the following
information:
"es menu class init
 application finalize called".
Comment 5 Not Zed 2005-08-10 05:15:10 UTC
it's empty, no folder is selected, but the folder-tree is showing the folder
selected.
Comment 6 André Klapper 2006-02-27 23:06:00 UTC
anyone still able to reproduce this with evolution 2.4 or 2.5?

setting to NEEDINFO.
Comment 7 Karsten Bräckelmann 2006-03-30 12:10:49 UTC
Sure. REOPENing. The original report and NotZed's comment 5 do say it all, but let me rephrase this yet again:

Steps to reproduce:
* Mailer, select any mail folder
* Open a new window, File / New Window

That's it. The new window appears, the mail tree is populated, and the mail folder you selected in the other window is selected -- however, the entire right pane is empty. The mail list is not populated with the contents of the supoosedly selected folder. The mail view pane apparently is not displayed at all.

Selecting any other folder after creating that new window works just fine. The initial state of a new window is not correct.

This is NOT limited to IMAP. Adjustung Summary.

still in 2.6 according to duplicate.

Comment 10 Roberto Guido 2009-11-13 17:24:16 UTC
This seems ok in 2.92.2
Comment 11 André Klapper 2012-02-13 15:20:03 UTC
This does not happen anymore in 3.2.3 either. Closing as OBSOLETE.
