GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 260404
Evolution is not supporting some searching criteria for GAL
Last modified: 2005-03-29 10:11:35 UTC
Evolution is not searching GAL contacts for "Any field contains", "category is" and "Advanced.." search options. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Go to conatacts view. Select GAL. 2. Give search condition based on the options "Any field contains", "category is" and "Advanced..". Actual Results: Evolution does not show the results. Expected Results: It should show all contacts which satisfies that search condition. How often does this happen? Everytime Additional Information:
Those searches are disabled on purpose. Sysadmins don't want the users doing arbitrary searches on the GAL, because the GAL is only optimized for certain kinds of searches. So the fix is to make the UI not offer those searches (maybe via a static capability?). Or to just ignore the problem...
In the case of these searches, error message "Unable to perform search. The backend for this addressbook refused to perform this query." is displyed. So I feel, this isn't a bug. Error message is not thrown for search based on "categories", and in this case also, search fails but doesn't cause any problems or doesn't display wrong data to the user. Categories option not working defect is filed with ID #60402.
