GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 210830
Don't spellcheck quoted text and signatures
Last modified: 2017-02-09 13:38:38 UTC
[Not sure if this belongs in Evolution or gnome-spell. Also, my version is 0.14.99 from 24th September] Description of Problem: Evolution spell checks all text in the mail window. I'm not interested in other peoples spelling mistakes, nor in spell checking my signature (which contains text in several languages). Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Reply to a mail (that has spelling mistakes or is in another language) Actual Results: Spelling mistakes in the quoted text are marked. Expected Results: Evolution should not spell check quoted text.
Not sure about the "signatures" part, but I agree about cited text.
I am able reproduce this issue Using Evolution 2.2.2 and gtkhtml2-3.6.2
*** Bug 242724 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
please also see bug 207128 which is about to not spell check URL's.
1) spell checking does not check subject, but should (bug 200683). 2) according to duplicate bug 242724, this seems to be related to http:// bugzilla.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi?id=42119 which could be realted to bug 233194. ;-)
i have reproduced the bug on 3.8 and working on it to fix it
removing old target milestone.
GtkHtml is not under active development anymore. Evolution (its main consumer) switched to a WebKit backend a while ago. It is currently unlikely that there will be any further GtkHtml development. Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping (bug 778387) to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this bug report in the future if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
