GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 205233
Need support for "anchor" tags within HTML messages.
Last modified: 2008-02-22 10:51:56 UTC
For example, this URL (which I received in e-mail from Apple Corp.) uses anchor tags: <A HREF="#article1"><img src="http://a772.g.akamai.net/7/772/51/68b8103a526a90/www.apple.com/enews/2001/07/images/13qtc1.gif" alt="Spider-Man Walks the Web" width="340" height="20" border="0"></A><BR> Currently, clicking on this link in the mail message causes Mozilla to load with #article1 as the URL. :-(
I think Larry is most competent in URL related problems, so assigning to him.
Not UI.
Okay we need to fix jump to anchor for frames, once that is done it is trivial.
I was optimistic, feature = future. We need api to find anchors in frames definitely not 1.2 at this point.

according to dobey on irc, the anchor links in html mails support is Evolution/Mailer and not gtkhtml/rendering. gtkhtml has api to jump to anchors :) therefore changing, and leaving it to the mailer hackers to determine if it is actually in gtkhtml.

well i've got no idea, if someone does they can add it to the bug
reopening
I actually use Evolution v2.4.0 on Suse v10.0 and the anchor problem is something I really need to be fixed...wish you will find the problem soon...

Mentioned in https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/18970 as well - confirmed with 2.6.1, bumping version.
Just to re-confirm the bug with Evolution 2.6.0 on Suse v10.1...
It takes six years to add support for anchor tags? Can this support be added soonish?
Guess what... Evolution v2.8.2 on OpenSuse v10.2 and the bug...is always there! Three weeks before OpenSuse v10.3 and before I test again for this bug! Wish to see a solution before OpenSuse v28... :(
This is an important feature for mail client. So I think we should raise the priority of this bug.
Can someone confirm if this is working after patch from bug #431190, please? When I was working on this then it seemed fine, thus my question.
Milan, I think both the bugs are same.
OK, so I will close this one, then. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 431190 ***
