Description Dan Winship 2000-07-14 20:21:14 UTC
We should support generating RFC2646 flowed text for text/plain messages.

This also implies generating replies slightly different when replying to
flowed originals.

What are we going to do about this?
Comment 2 Luis Villa 2001-11-26 18:02:25 UTC
Is this a 1.2/1.4 thing?
Comment 3 André Klapper 2004-09-02 11:29:08 UTC
*** bug 242213 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 4 Frederic Crozat 2007-05-31 14:25:41 UTC
there is an additionnal problem : when replying to "format=flowed" message, composer doesn't wrap quoted lines at all :(
Comment 5 Yury V. Zaytsev 2009-03-07 17:46:08 UTC
OK, guys, this is ~9 years now. Could somebody please tell me what's the progress so far on this issue?

If there is no progress, then please tell me where should I start looking into it. Particularly I am interested in interpreting format-flowed display. It's super-annoying to receive Apple Mail messages that are wrapped at 65 characters.

I have currently checked out Evolution trunk and trying to figure out where the "display" part of the standard belongs. Am I right that this belongs to the mail component of the shell, or it's a CAMEL/evolution-data-server thing?

I have absolutely no C coding experience and no free time, but at least I could provide something for more experienced Evolutions hackers to base upon.

Thanks,
--Z.

Ping.

This is one of the features I miss a lot in Evolution, that most other MUAs have.
Comment 7 David Hebbeker 2020-01-16 12:51:33 UTC
As RFC 2646 is obsoleted by RFC 3676 I have created a new issue: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/issues/757
Comment 8 Milan Crha 2020-01-16 14:36:39 UTC
Thanks. Let's close this in favor of the GNOME GitLab instance then.
