GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 171926
multiple file search and replace
Last modified: 2019-03-23 20:46:07 UTC
gedit should include an option that will allow the searching (and replacing) of all files that are open in gedit. Currently the only options are: "Match case", "Match entire word only", "Search backwards", "Wrap around". This would be a huge usuablity improvement. Please consider :)

YES! this would really enhance productivity within gedit. even better: you could be able to replace text in "All files in current folder" or "Current folder and subdirectories". then... gedit would have achieved perfection. :) PS: Dreamweaver has this feature and it really IS helpful, specially when you're building a website or that kind of stuff.

no luck with 2.12.x
I have started working on this feature. May be it will be included in 2.18 (too late for 2.16).
Paolo, any update?
Kate supports this and I believe they are using grep to do the searching.
Any update on this?
