GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 171405
Preview thumbnails should be links
Last modified: 2015-02-09 23:05:09 UTC
The preview thumbnails in the search results should be clickable. The thumbnail in the description page of a Theme (e.g. http://art.gnome.org/themes/gtk2/7/) should also be linked, best to a larger screenshot or for a quickhack only to the actual download. Also, in the description page of a Background... (e.g. http://art.gnome.org/backgrounds/other/14/) the thumbnail should link to the actual download.
The preview thumbnails in the search results are generated by the same code that generates the listing links, so this would affect all the listings on the site. Should the preview images in listings take the user through to the item page, or to the larger preview (if available)? The preview image on http://art.gnome.org/themes/gtk2/7/ was incorrectly linked and has been fixed now. The background preview could not be linked to the actual download since there are often severl download links per background (different resolutions).
IMO the links in the search are great now. The only flaw I still noticed is in background pages, e.g. http://art.gnome.org/backgrounds/gnome/58/. If there are multiple downloads in one background page, aren't there also multiple previews? If so, each could still be linked, if not, the preview thumbnail should probably link to the first background attached.
The multiple downloads are simply to different resolutions of the same background, so the thumbnails would be identical. The thumbnails in the listings now link through to the item pages, and the thumbnails in the item pages link through to a larger screenshot, so does this resolve your issue?
Right, multiple previews are unnecessary. It would still be nice if the preview thumbnail had a link pointing to the first download though. Un-linked thumbnails are always a little confusing, because it's the first thing that I usually click at.
the last comment by samuel is still valid nowadays, reopening.
art.gnome.org is not under development anymore. Closing this report as OBSOLETE.
