GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 168978
gnome-cd skips when using cdparanoia backend
Last modified: 2006-07-11 12:13:17 UTC
gnome-cd is unusable for me on a laptop that has an external multibay CD player. It skips every few seconds making it impossible to play back any CD. It doesn't seem to use a lot of CPU so maybe we could make it more agressive to make sure it succeeds? Or maybe just bump up the buffer size if there is something like that?
Update: This seems to happen with one CD out of the two I have tested so far. And this is a mixed audio/data CD. Maybe that's causing something weird to happen...
Tried another mixed CD now and that does not have this problem. The CD I'm having problems with is "Doves - Some Cities" if anyone wants to try and reproduce it :-)
After more testing I've definitely gotten the impression that mixed CDs are causing skips in playback. I can run yum update in the background without a single skip when using a plain audio CD, but it always skips with normal activity when playing back mixed CDs. The amount of skipping varies from CD to CD
Send me such a CD. ;).
I'll order one for you on the net when I get money :) Preferred online music store and address to deliver it please?
Can't reproduce this any longer. Closing.
