Description Vincent Untz 2005-03-01 18:26:03 UTC
I launched once gnome-background-properties in a chinese environment after
having installed gnome-backgrounds. And since then, even in a french
environment, the background names are in chinese. It seems
gnome-background-properties saves the names of the backgrounds in
~/.gnome2/backgrounds.xml.

It shouldn't do this for the default backgrounds unless I change the names.
Comment 1 Adam Weinberger 2005-03-17 17:24:45 UTC
I got the same thing, except I'd never launched gnome-background-properties in a
Chinese environment.

How is this bug going? Looking from the cvs changelog, it should not have been
fixed.
Comment 3 Rodney Dawes 2005-04-25 12:10:50 UTC
It is not fixed, no. And it's not a high priority. Most people aren't going to
switch between locales. And there is a workaround if you do. The offending
images can be removed from backgrounds.xml. Also, I don't know of any way to
solve this really, other than copying all of the translations over as well, and
that's not really too good. I'll put it on the 2.12 milestone though.
Comment 4 Dick Gevers 2005-07-08 10:39:48 UTC
It has nothing to do with changing environments. I have always had en_GB and the
files names are Chinese and Russian. It looks bad for GNOME so it should be fixed.
Comment 5 Dick Gevers 2007-04-09 14:44:46 UTC
I don't have this problem anymore since several versions. For me the problem is fixed.
