Description Jaap Karssenberg 2005-02-15 21:12:51 UTC
'/' as keybinding for the "Find" function feels more natural to some users then
the '^F' binding, certainly since the search bar is placed nicely at the bottom
of the window reminds me of pagers like 'less'.

This seems ok to go ahead with.

I sent a message to the usability list just asking if anyone else is doing this
in their find systems just for some other ideas.

Now evice perfectly works with changing acceleration item. To make / work do the
following:

1. Check if gconf key /desktop/gnome/interface/can_change_accels is set to TRUE.
2. Open required menu entry with, but doesn't activate it.
3. Press required key, for example '/'.

If this solution satisfies you, please, close the bug.

Sory it took me some time to answer - spending to much time offline lately :S

I tried the can_change_accels trick and it works how I wanted it to work :)

Just wondering, if you're not using '/' for anything else would it hurt to have
two default keybindings (^F and /) ? As I argued earlier I think I lot of unix
users expect this to work "out of the box".

Cheers!
