GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 167106
Cryptic "Script execution defer" message in gedit
Last modified: 2005-02-17 10:43:14 UTC
#: plugins/taglist/HTML.tags.xml.in.h:197 msgid "Script execution defer" What does "defer" mean in this context? I assume it's being used as a noun of some sort. However, M-W doesn't list is as a noun: http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=defer
DEFER is an optional attribute of the <script> tag. It indicates that the script is not going to generate any document content. The browser can continue parsing and drawing the page. I really don't know how to describe it in a short name. What about "DEFER attribute"?
Not perfect, but much better. Thanks.
Oh, if you want to fix this now, please mail gnome-i18n for the string freeze stuff.

I still think "Defer attribute" may be misinterpreted. You would probably want to add a translator comment (see bug 131505 for how to do that) giving the above explanation.
Or just make it "``Defer'' attribute".
Menthos: it is not clear to me how I can add a translator comment in this case. May you please explain me how to do? Is it possible to add translator comments for the value of an XML attribute?
Paolo, just put the comment in front of <gedit:Tag> which contains the attribute. Though, note that I only recently fixed this in intltool (you'd need at least 0.31.2 for it to work for you).
Created attachment 37434 [details] [review] Patch against CVS HEAD (v. 2) Is this patch ok for you? Can I commit it? No one replied to my mail on gnome-i18n (http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-i18n/2005-February/msg00124.html)
I'm fine with the patch, but I'm not authorized to permit string freeze breakages: that's Christian and Kjartan. I'm sure Christian will respond as soon as he notices that proper comment has been added (and he's sometimes unavailable during weekends). Christian?
Fixed in CVS HEAD.
