GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 165741
Misspelled Danish locations in gnome-applets gweather Locations.xml.in
Last modified: 2005-02-03 14:16:34 UTC
<location> <_name>Aarhus</_name> <code>EKAH</code> <coordinates>56-18N 010-37E</coordinates> </location> This location should probably be spelled "Århus" instead. I'm not sure that it would be commonly known as "Aarhus" by a person whose first name is English. <location> <_name>Koebenhavn/Kastrup</_name> <code>EKCH</code> <coordinates>55-37N 012-39E</coordinates> </location> This should probably rather be: <city> <!-- Translators: The native name is "København". --> <_name>Copenhagen</_name> <location> <_name>Kastrup</_name> <code>EKCH</code> <coordinates>55-37N 012-39E</coordinates> </location> </city> I'm not sure a person whose first name is English would recognize this city other than by the name of "Copenhagen". Thus, this is probably the name that should be listed. <location> <_name>Koebenhavn/Roskilde</_name> <code>EKRK</code> <coordinates>55-35N 012-08E</coordinates> </location> I'm not sure Roskilde can be classified as a part of Copenhagen... at least it seems odd to me. <location> <_name>Soenderborg</_name> <code>EKSB</code> <coordinates>54-58N 009-47E</coordinates> </location> This should probably say "Sønderborg" instead. <location> <_name>Sydfyns Flyveplads</_name> <code>EKST</code> <coordinates>55-01N 010-34E</coordinates> </location> This should perhaps say "Sydfyn Airport" instead, or at the very least have a translator comment that explained what "Flyveplads" is, and that the "s" in "Sydfyns" is just a genitive one. <location> <_name>Vaerloese</_name> <code>EKVL</code> <coordinates>55-46N 012-20E</coordinates> </location> This should probably say "Værløse" instead. <location> <_name>Vagar/Soervaag</_name> <code>EKVG</code> <coordinates>62-04N 007-17W</coordinates> </location> This should probably say "Vagar/Sørvåg" instead. <location> <location> <_name>Koebenhavn/Roskilde</_name> <code>EKRK</code> <coordinates>55-35N 012-08E</coordinates> </location> <location>

Yep, this is all totally true. Should we go ahead and fix it now before the string freeze starts?
I have faith in the translators to do the right thing. Feel free to commit fixes.
I've fixed the strings now.
So has this bug been resolved?
Yep, I added a new country since one of the locations is on the Faroes (that belong to the Danish kingdom, but really aren't in Denmark).
