Description Diego González 2005-01-12 00:43:40 UTC
Please describe the problem:
periods of time (miliseconds) where nothing is heard, this makes the films
terribly annoying to see.

The video seems not to jump and there is no loss of synchronization.

I'm using alsa, but gstreamer does not spit any errors about lost xruns (i'm
using totem)

I'm using a PIII 733 MHz and with the same films mplayer works without a glitch.

Steps to reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Does this happen every time?

Please provide: your version of gstreamer, gst-plugins, gst-ffmpeg, what sound
card, distribution and kernel version you use, whether you use distro packages
or self-compiled gstreamer, which audio output you use (alsa or oss or esd), and
some sample file where it happens. If you don't have place to upload file to,
come to our IRC channel, we will help you with that. I assume you use Totem to
watch movies, right?
Comment 2 Diego González 2005-01-12 10:02:35 UTC
gstreamer/gst-plugins/gst-ffmpeg CVS-HEAD from yesterday (11-01-2005).
Ensoniq ES1370 Sound Card
Debian distribution
Kernel Version 2.6.10-rc2-ck2

Alsa as audio output
I compiled the thing myself

Yes, i try to use totem with no success at all, gstreamer always has issues that
take me back to mplayer. I also tried with gst-launch-ext-0.8 but the results
where the same.

How can i upload a 700mb file?
Comment 3 Maciej Katafiasz 2005-01-12 15:25:02 UTC
Okay. Please chop first 3MB off the file and see if you can play it and whether
the issue still occurs. If 3MB is too small, make it bigger, up to some 10MB.

If you can't upload 3MB anywhere either, let me know and I'll setup an account
for you, but I'd much prefer if you just posted it somewhere where we can grab it.
Comment 4 Christian Fredrik Kalager Schaller 2005-01-13 12:09:31 UTC
Diego we need the file as Maciej requested or we can't reproduce and have to
close this bug. Please provide file or let us know if we can close this.
Comment 5 Diego González 2005-01-13 15:16:03 UTC
ok, i don't have any place to put the file, what should i do?
Comment 6 Ronald Bultje 2005-01-13 18:52:56 UTC
Come on IRC and ask me (BBB) or Stephane (LeRoutier).
Comment 7 Maciej Katafiasz 2005-01-13 20:59:40 UTC
I've created temporary account for you to upload on my private domain. Host
ftp://mathrick.org, user "gst-upload@mathrick.superhost.pl" (yes, there's @ in
username, don't ask why, I didn't write this stupid script...), no password.
Please be gentle with it, it's my private account and I have limits set on it
too, so don't upload too big files, OK?
Comment 8 Diego González 2005-01-14 10:53:41 UTC
ok, this past nigth i uploaded the file, it's below 6MB, hope is not too much,
thanks a lot.
Comment 9 Maciej Katafiasz 2005-01-14 13:41:25 UTC
OK, file is available now at http://mathrick.org/files/Sky.Captain.avi if anyone
is interested. Will try to take a look at it if time permits, no promises though.
Comment 10 Luca Ognibene 2005-10-02 14:50:24 UTC
The file works fine here.. Can you replicate now? Can you try with a different
audiosink like osssink or esdsink? thanks!
Comment 11 Luca Ognibene 2005-11-11 16:47:28 UTC
Closing. Please reopen if it's still an issue for you!
