Description Diego Ongaro 2005-01-08 22:33:28 UTC
On Ubuntu (Hoary), open firestarter through the menu and go to Help>Firestarter
Homepage. It opens firefox as root:

root /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/firefox-bin -a firefox -contentLocale US
-UILocale en-US http://www.fs-security.com

This tends to screw up firefox's settings and running a web browser as root is
just not a good thing to do (even if you do have a firewall enabled :P)

Have the same issue with Firestarter 1.0.3 in my Debian Sid, using Gnome 2.8.1.
Help button opens Firefox as root.

firestarter development has been stalled and it has been unmaintained for a few years now. I contacted Tomas Junnonen (majix@iki.fi) because he is listed as Developer on project page but didn't get any response. I found firestarter on fedora wiki [1] under deprecated packages so i am closing all the bugs as WONTFIX. Please feel free to reopen the bugs in future if anyone takes the responsibility for active development.
