File->Import Photos (wait for camera to be detected and initialized) -> Import
-> press camera icon after importing has started

It starts to initialize again and tries to import at the same time. At least in
my case the importing slows down and initializing never reaches 100%

Maybe the camera icon should be "grayed out" until the import is done
