GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 160335
unable to unset "Enable software sound mixing (ESD)" and set "Sound for events"
Last modified: 2007-01-07 22:54:33 UTC
Suppose the machine uses remote esound connection or esound daemon started in boot time. In this situation if you want to set "Sound for events", you should not set "Enable sound server startup" (in better case it causes error reports in log, in worse case it causes sound redirection due to bug in older versions of esd). But it is impossible in current GUI.
Sounds reasonable.
Still valid for GNOME 2.12.
