Patch to the Docs

once you start writing documentation you start seeing more and more things that can be improved but for now I'm stopping with this patch (attachment to follow). I hope to give bug 159496 a go next, and maybe fix an expand a few other sections while I am at it. I would appreciate it if someone could apply this patch and check that the documentation will still build, as I may have missed an angle brackets here or there.
