Description Samuel Ziegler 2004-11-17 01:38:38 UTC
After upgrading from Fedora Core 2 to Fedora Core 3 (Evolution 1.4 -> 2.0.2,
gnome-pilot -> 2.0.12) and syncing, a huge number (> 500) of bogus empty Todo
items were created on the pilot (a Kyocera 7150 via serial).

I then attempted to remove all of the dummy tasks within Evolution, then
resyncing. This failed because the combiniation of gpilotd +
evolution-data-server hit approx ~600MB memory, causing the machine to swap and
pilot to timeout.

Switching to "copy to pilot" allowed me to clean up the pilot, but attempting to
resync again afterwards generated the bogus tasks again.
Comment 1 Bart Jourquin 2004-11-17 08:47:53 UTC
Seems not to be related to the Kyocera item. I've the same problem (same
configuration) with a Palm Zire 71. Restarting from a fresh, empty task list
doesn't solve the problem.
Comment 2 Miguel Marin 2004-12-13 16:11:48 UTC
I have the same problem... I have a Tungsten T3. The first time a make a sync
everything goes right but if I make another sync then there appears many empty
tasks in my PDA and no empty tasks appear in evolution
Comment 3 Simon J.P. Wong 2005-03-10 01:37:23 UTC
I also have the same problem on my Treo 600. It syncs okay a few times then
goes haywire. Am trying to determine some better daignostic information.

More details of my setup:

Debian Testing with Gnome Pilot 2.0.12 built with Pilot Link 0.11.8
Comment 5 Robert Locke 2005-03-30 23:53:20 UTC
Just adding a me to. Have a IBM WorkPad c3 (relabel of Palm V) connected via a
serial cradle and USB/Serial converter. I am running Fedora Core 3:
kernel-2.6.10-1.770_FC3, evolution-2.0.4-2, gnome-pilot-2.0.12-4,
gnome-pilot-conduits-2.0.12-3, pilot-link-0.11.8-8.

My workaround has been to change to "Copy from pilot EToDo" and make sure not to
make changes from Evolution Tasks list....

Any word on tracking this one down?
Comment 6 Simon J.P. Wong 2005-05-05 00:41:53 UTC
Things are now working fine for me (fingers crossed!).

What I did was completely remove all Task/ToDo related files on BOTH Evolution
and my Treo600. Delete ALL the files in .evolution/tasks/local/system/ and
delete the ToDo.pdb off your palm. Now sync and after that I have added entries
to both Evolution and my Palm and have had no problems since.

System: Ubuntu Hoary
Evolution 2.2.1.1-0ubuntu4
Gnome Pilot 2.0.12-1.1ubuntu4

I hope others find this to fix things...
Comment 7 Simon J.P. Wong 2005-05-24 05:06:53 UTC
I just had this fail again so will have to retract my suggested work around :-(

I've just disabled Task synching until further notice...
Comment 8 Sebastien Bacher 2005-06-20 20:04:20 UTC
The same issue seems to be described here: https://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/11919
Comment 9 Subodh Soni 2005-07-13 10:29:25 UTC
I was able o reproduce this problem on my Tungsten T5 running with the latest
version of evolution i.e. 2.3.4 on SuSE 9.3.
Multiple empty Todos are created in palm todos list when sync with evolution is
performed.
Marking bug as CONFIRMED
Comment 10 Sebastian Breier 2005-07-29 23:19:59 UTC
I can confirm this bug.

System: Ubuntu Hoary
Evolution: 2.2.1.1-0ubuntu4
Gnome Pilot: 2.0.12-1.1ubuntu4
PDA: Handspring Visor Standard

Haven't found any workarounds so far.
Comment 11 Sebastian Breier 2005-12-08 23:48:06 UTC
Fixed in the new Ubuntu version. Maybe others can confirm this?

System: Ubuntu Breezy
Evolution: 2.4.1-0ubuntu7
Gnome Pilot: 2.0.13-0ubuntu10
PDA: Handspring Visor Standard
Comment 12 Matt Davey 2006-06-19 00:10:47 UTC
This is an evolution conduit bug, I guess. Could someone check if we can close this one. I haven't been following evolution bugzilla, so if anyone recognises this as a resolved bug, please update.
Comment 13 Sebastian Breier 2006-06-19 07:14:58 UTC
Still fixed for me.

System: Ubuntu Dapper
Evolution: 2.6.1-0ubuntu7
Gnome Pilot: 2.0.13-0ubuntu16
PDA: Handspring Visor Standard

But yeah, I guess other people should confirm this as well. :)
