GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 157827
file-roller should load archives asynchronously
Last modified: 2020-11-11 19:13:55 UTC
For an archive type with an index file-roller takes an extremely long time to show anything. During the "Reading archive" process, the list should be filled in on the fly. Perhaps some operations could be available on these files before the entire archive is read. Also, a progress bar could be shown that would help in some fashion: the length of the tar is probably known.
Status on this?
this problem isn't fixed 5 years after :) In ubuntu 9.10 (alpha3) file roller takes lots of time to open big archives (> 1GB) can take 5 miuntes. It's not related to ubuntu 9.10 all version has this problem. Thanks. Romain Here's the proposal on ubuntu brainstorm http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/20989/
bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen updates for a long time. If you still use file-roller and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/file-roller/-/issues/ Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be implemented (volunteer workforce and time is limited).
