Marking as low priority as IAX is not a standard, it will have lower priority
than other standard protocols.
Comment 2 Snark 2005-09-29 19:54:54 UTC
There is basic IAX2 support in opal... so there is hope for the future, but it
is of lower priority.

There is already an open-source implementation of IAX: http://iaxclient.sourceforge.net/iaxcomm/index.html - maybe the code is reuseable?
Comment 5 Snark 2006-08-27 06:23:46 UTC
Notice that Stephen Cook is working on this for google's Summer Of Code 2006 ; so you should see things improve soon :-)
Comment 6 David Sanderson 2006-11-29 01:55:11 UTC
I'm just curious since it's not the winter of cold has any progress been made on this. I'm not a much of a coder but I'm willing to help.
Comment 7 Snark 2006-11-29 06:02:38 UTC
If I recall well, the support is in opal ; it just takes little to add it to ekiga. Unfortunately, we don't have that much free time those days, so things do get very slow. In fact, currently we're pondering adding features vs cleaning bug reports.

It is an important feature though, so it will be in cvs some day.
Comment 8 Damien Sandras 2006-11-29 08:37:11 UTC
It will be included in 3.00.
Comment 9 Snark 2007-03-29 15:49:21 UTC
Pushing priority up, since we're getting near.
Comment 10 Peter Robinson 2008-09-26 13:23:04 UTC
What is the status of this? I seem to remember there was one outstanding bug. It obviously did make 3.0.0. Is there a chance of this for 3.0.1?
Comment 11 Jan Schampera 2008-09-26 15:05:36 UTC
Definitely not 3.0.1.

IAX2 is ready in OPAL, though, but 3.0.1 is a bugfix and-what-else-not release.
Comment 12 Eugen Dedu 2009-03-26 14:44:37 UTC
Seems a not too difficult bug, and is a very old one => setting milestone to 3.4.0
Comment 13 Alexey Loukianov 2010-11-25 17:55:48 UTC
So, we're hopefully nearing 2011 and as far as I know OPAL had been supporting IAX2 for a pretty long period (two years, maybe longer). Are there any chances to see IAX2 support in Ekiga in the near future? Let's say, should one expect it to be done before 2012?
Comment 14 Eugen Dedu 2010-11-25 19:42:26 UTC
Despite what I said two comments above, there will be no support until someone can test it and creates a patch for it. Unfortunately, we currently do not have such a person.
Comment 15 Damien Sandras 2013-03-10 12:41:47 UTC
Does IAX2 still make much sense in 2013?
