Description lDionne 2004-10-01 02:54:54 UTC
Install gstreamer-0.8.5.2-0.fdr.1.2 from RPM.
Install gstreamer-plugins-0.8.4-0.fdr.1.2 from PRM.
Install gstreamer-tools-0.8.5-0.fdr.1.2 and gstreamer-tools-0.8.5.2-0.fdr.1.2
from RPM.
Start gst-player.

Attempting to play any .mpg file produces this error message:
"There is no element present to handle the stream's mime type video/mpeg."

No documentation on this error can be found on gstreamer.freedesktop.org, via
google, man pages, info pages, etc. etc. If the error is fixed, it's not
documented anywhere.

Fedora does not ship MPEG plugins because of licensing issues. You can get those
from third-party repositories such as livna.org or freshrpms.
