--> gstreamer, gst-ffmpeg (some wmv playback bug was filed here)
Do you have gst-ffmpeg installed? Do you have asfdemux (part of gst-plugins; check with gst-inspect-0.8)? Can you provide us with a link to the asx stream?
yes I have everything, here is #a# link (as it does not work for me with every asx link anyway... (using totem!)
comment #3 : i see no link here
just a little thing : ASX : is a playlist (text, XML like file) ASF : is the streaming format/container WMV : is the video codec (and WMA is the audio codec)
putting in NEEDINFO as we don't have enought information for now
Araft do you have an URL for this stream? Since we have libmms now we should be able to handle such streams.
Nothing heard back. Assume working. Closing.
checked this link: http://www.konami.co.jp/ja/tv/news/0610/br.asx I get this error message with totem: There were no decoders found to handle the stream in file "file:///home/olimar/Desktop/br.asx", you might need to install the corresponding plugins which is actually wrong as I have the latest version of ffmpeg working perfectly with every movie file I have...
ok, the real problem is : we let playlist parsing (.pls/.asx/...) up to the app totem parse them but there is no plugin for "playlists" dupe of bug #163021 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 163021 ***
with actual totem CVS, it does not display any error (so it knows its an .asx and parses it)
for http stream, you need gnomevfssrc (i suppose you already have it) for mms stream, you need libmmssrc (which needs libmms external lib) => available in gst-plugins 0.8.7 at least please note that libmms is quite new and does not support mms over HTTP
