Description Baptiste Mille-Mathias 2004-09-23 15:59:57 UTC
Is it possible to let users burn tracks without creating playlist.
We couls select some track in the main Library, and select a menu to burn the
selection, or add an icon on the UI.
Comment 1 Alexander Hunziker 2005-07-08 16:26:31 UTC
I agree on that one. Also, I think the burning functionality should not be
exclusively accessible by context menu, but also in the main menu which should
show a matching entry (burn selection, burn playlist). The reason for that is
that currently it is difficult to find the burning function. if you don't KNOW
already that by right-clicking a playlist you can burn it, many people won't
ever find out.

start of a patch

This is the start of a patch to add a new "blank cd" source that shows up when you insert recordable media, so you can drag tracks to it and then press "burn".

It doesn't yet have a nice big "burn" button, an indication of how much space you have used or anything. But it does detect the media,

Sounds like a pretty good idea.

Have you thought about making it possible to burn an album with a single mouse click? I.e. no dnd to a source etc, just enter an album and click the "nice big burn button". (Maybe the two ways to do it aren't mutually exclusive... anyway... I think simply burning an already existing album will be a common operation...)
Comment 6 Dan Oliver 2008-08-10 16:38:28 UTC
Another idea. I think it would be nice if you could just right click on the album name in the album list and just click burn.

Drag and drop of songs would require someone to drag and drop each song one by one or they would have to know the shift key is used for highlighting multiple items, which might not be quite as intuitive.
Comment 7 Jonathan Matthew 2009-12-28 08:33:14 UTC
If anyone is interested in working on this, the basic ideas in this patch are still sound, but it needs to be updated to use brasero instead of nautilus-cd-burner, and gio/gvfs instead of gnome-vfs.
