I would expect that images of the same size have also the same size during the

For very small files we use the file itself as the thumbnail and use a different
form of scaling, and we add no frame. Such small files are very commonly icons,
so this makes sense for them.

In my opinion you should query the height and the width of the image first and
then make a decision. I noticed that with png's this doesn't happen.

BTW I'm looking into code to see if I can make a patch :-).
