GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 152910
File context menus resize, hide and show applications
Last modified: 2005-06-27 09:54:33 UTC
I have a bizarre behaviour, where after changing the default application in the "Open With" section of the properties dialog, if I right click the file again, the context menu will only have the "Open with other application" section, then about 1/2 second later, it will show the applications, and then 1/2 second later, it will hide the applications. A subsequent right click does the above, but doesn't hide the applications after 1/2 second. Further right clicks work as expected: 1) Right click on an application that has more than 1 associated application. 2) Change the default application from the Open With properties tab 3) right click on the application again - the context menu doesn't show the applications initially - 1/2 second later, it shows the applications - 1/2 second later it hides the applications 4) right click on the application again - the context menu doesn't show the applications initially - 1/2 second later, it shows the applications 5) Further clicks work perfectly, and always show the applications. I am using debian packages from experimental: Nautilus - 2.8.0-1 gnome-vfs2 - 2.8.0-1
I've seen this too
Ditto for me. If I right-click on a PDF, it shows a very annoying "half-ful" context menu. I'd honestly prefer not seeing a context menu at all until it's ready. The second time I right-click on the same file, it works great. All other PDFs still have the pause, though.

I've played around with this feature with Nautilus 2.11 and it seems to work like a charm. I remember that this was indeed an issue with older Nautilus versions. Feel free to reopen this bug report if you can still reproduce it.
