GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 152753
should minimize into Panel Notification Bar
Last modified: 2005-06-12 01:40:14 UTC
This should follow the same conventions as gaim and rhythmbox where the icon in the notification area is always there and can be clicked on once to pull up the window, and again to minimize it into the bar. I hope this is a valid request.
Created attachment 32752 [details] [review] Adds significant functionality to the notification icon. Hide the main window into the notification icon, fades the notification icon based on whether there is unread news.
The patch doesn't change "new items" to "No new items". This bug is present in the current version.
Thanks for the patch. I applied it with slight modification to reflect the current state of the code. I've also fixed the tooltip. Btw, should we bind the window presenting in the middle button (button 2) or in the left button to make it consisten with the rest of the desktop? If button 1, should we bind the scrolling in button 2? Cheers,
There's currently a thread[1] about this bug. Please comment if you have something to say. Also, kindly look at Juri's post[2] on why the behaviour of Straw in the tray is different from rhythmbox and gaim and why we should not abuse the tray notification applet. I have to revert the patch since the concensus was that the notification area should really be used for notifications and should hide itself if there are unread items. Thank you for the concern and for the patch anyway. I will mark this as WONTFIX. Cheers,
