whaley@druppel:~$ gnome-cups-add --version Gnome gnome-cups-add 0.18 whaley@druppel:~$ gnome-cups-manager --version Gnome gnome-printer-view 0.18 problem happens with normal user and as root (with session started by normal user) managed to add the printer just fine using CUPS web interface, so now I do have a printer installed and shows in printer view, but add printer still crashes.
In case you find it meaningful, I attach the results of running gnome-cups-add from the command line of my Debian: dmrq@skopos:~$ gnome-cups-add ** (gnome-cups-add:1564): CRITICAL **: file gnome-cups-printer.c: line 775 (gnom e_cups_printer_get_attributes_initialized): assertion `GNOME_CUPS_IS_PRINTER (pr inter)' failed ** (gnome-cups-add:1564): CRITICAL **: file gnome-cups-request.c: line 411 (gnom e_cups_request_new_for_printer): assertion `gnome_cups_printer_get_attributes_in itialized (printer)' failed For interested users, I confirm the above mentioned workaround: http://localhost:631 allows the normal management of your printers.

Hi, Just another info. On my computer running Debian Sid (unstable) the application works: loke:/home/mir# gnome-cups-add --version Gnome gnome-cups-add 0.25 loke:/home/mir# gnome-cups-manager --version Gnome gnome-printer-view 0.25 Maybe I problem related to the version in Debian Sarge (testing) so the Debian team might want to know this?
See Debian bug #243663: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=243663 Workaround is to get the packages libgnomecupsui1.0-1 and gnome-cups-manager from the unstable distribution (I used libgnomecupsui1.0-1_0.25-2_i386.deb and gnome-cups-manager_0.25-2_i386.deb from http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/main/g/gnome-cups-manager/ ).

We've got three distinct backtraces merged in here. The variant most recently reported in 171847 was fixed a while ago (0.28 ?) The current release is 0.30 Can we please stop merging them in here ? The SNMP sniffing crash orginally reported here with several duplicates has not been replicated with a viable backtrace. The reports crash in the STL with no way to get back to the origin of the problem. If any of the reporters can get a better trace we'd have more luck.

We haven't seen any reports of this in a while. I'm going to assume that 0.30 fixed it.

Moving all gnome-cups-manager bugs to new product. Filter on Kjartan's spring cleaning.
