GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 150357
Default view setting not respected
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Description of Problem: Since upgrading to nautilus 2.7.2, the file manager no longer repsects its default view setting. On my system nautilus is set to display folders in icon view. After selecting "View as icons" from the menu the setting sticks for this folder. But every other folder still opens with apotheke. Nautilus 2.7.4 exhibits the same behaviour. What I just noticed is that folders now even use the compact layout by default, though I don't know if this is a feature or a bug.... Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Leave all nautilus settings as they are by default. 2. Open a folder that you never opened before. 3. Stare at the apotheke-view (or icon-view with compact layout if apotheke not installed) Actual Results: The folders open in the apotheke-view if it is installed. If not, they open in icon view using compact layout. Expected Results: Folders open in Icon view. How often does this happen? Always. Additional Information:
This can also happen when you install gthumb : the "catalog view" from gthumb becomes the default and every new folder opens in this view.

I think this bug has been fixed with this checkin (from 2004-08-23) : * src/nautilus-main.c: Make default component for folders just use the gconf setting instead of the short list (which is essentially random). Remove component picking for non-folders. Remove unused code. I guess we should wait for the next release of nautilus and see if the problem is fixed...
yeah, it should work now.
