Description Blake Madden 2004-08-12 15:09:34 UTC
It would be great if you could add a testimonial section to your website. That
would make it look even more professional and would allow me to rave about how
easy it was for me to migrate from Photoshop to your fine application.
Comment 1 Raphaël Quinet 2004-08-15 15:48:45 UTC
Good idea. But in order to start such a section, we should have some testimonials
to put on that new page. Starting with an empty page would not be so good, so it
would be nice if you could supply some examples.

If you have some good testimonials (from yourself or others), please add them to
this bug report (as text) or send them to the gimp-web mailing list.
Comment 2 Blake Madden 2004-08-18 22:36:18 UTC
Good point ;-) OK, here is mine:

I've been using Photoshop for a year or so professionally editing
software-related artwork, and switching to GIMP is a real pleasure. It is more
lightweight than PhotoShop, has a friendlier interface, and has all of the key
features of Photoshop that I need. I have had no problems importing my PSD
files--even ones that contain foreign text, such as Japanese and Russian. After
reading the help and a few of the tutorials over the course of a few days, I
have a good understanding of how to use GIMP. Photoshop's learning curve far
more steep.
Comment 3 Blake Madden 2004-08-18 22:46:36 UTC
Oh, I should mention with my testimonial who I am:

Thanks for your testimonial. We could add a new page for that in the /about/
section. It would be nice to have a couple more, though.
Comment 5 Niklas Mattisson 2004-11-14 12:33:12 UTC
A testimonial page would be lovely to have. We however need to hunt for even
more testimonials. Maybe add something to say..."Add your testimonial here" or
something on the site? Then have something adding it to the site?

Or any other idea?
Comment 6 Blake Madden 2004-11-15 17:23:59 UTC
Yeah, that would be really cool--an interactive testimonial page. A friend of
mine started to use GIMP too and she really likes it. I can ask here to post
her positive experience too if you would like.
Comment 7 Niklas Mattisson 2004-11-21 00:55:42 UTC
The more testamonials we have the better.. :)
Comment 8 Raphaël Quinet 2004-12-10 21:09:36 UTC
An interactive testimonial page could be nice but it would have to be moderated
in some way in order to prevent abuses. A simple solution would be to mention
some e-mail address for submitting the testimonials and have some volunteer who
collects them and adds them to the web page.

Since we haven't collected many testimonials so far, I have just posted a note
about this to the gimp-user list (CC gimp-web), suggesting to add new testimonials
to this bug report. Let's see what will come out of it in the next few days...
Comment 9 Raphaël Quinet 2007-10-25 16:07:50 UTC
Obviously, nothing happened regarding the testimonials. A few days ago, I added a request for testimonials in the "GIMP Everywhere" page: http://www.gimp.org/about/everywhere.html But I don't think that we should spend much more time on this. If spontaneous submissions of testimonials come, they will be added to the page. If not, then it's just WONTFIX for this bug.
