Description Gustavo Carneiro 2004-08-01 15:02:20 UTC
Navigational windows have title like this: "File Browser: <URI>". It should be
"<URI> - File Browser", because when the window list doesn't have enough space,
currently you only see the "File Browser" part, when the most important part is
actually the URI. The icon already indicates it's a file browser window, anyway.
I'm almost sure I saw some similar recommendation in the HIG. I can look for
it, if anyone doubts my memory...

http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gup/hig/2.0/windows-primary.html#primary-window-titles

While document names are most pertinent to users, we understand that application
developers may want to increase recognition of their application. If you plan to
include your application's name in the title of a primary window, use the
following format: Document Name - Application Name. This will ensure that the
document name appears in limited space situations such as the system window list.

If directories are seen as documents then this is valid (it's not a very large
stretch of the imagination...)

Adding HIG and usability keywords.

You will need to patch every *.po as well to get that change recognized on every
language
Comment 4 Christian Neumair 2004-10-23 18:09:59 UTC
Adolfo: That task is up to the translators. Believe me, they don't like that
other contributors mess up their translations.
Comment 5 Elijah Newren 2004-11-19 19:39:45 UTC
nautilus has branched so I'm removing the BLOCKED_BY_FREEZE keyword
Comment 6 Luis Villa 2005-01-02 21:18:16 UTC
Gustavo: I'd suggest re-sending this to the nautilus-list so the maintainers see
it again... this should definitely go in, it seems like an obvious fix.
Comment 7 Gustavo Carneiro 2005-01-02 21:33:29 UTC
Oh.. I didn't know I was required to send it to the list in the first place.
Thanks.
Comment 8 Seth Nickell 2005-01-02 23:38:48 UTC
FWIW, Gustavo is definitely right here.
Comment 9 Alexander Larsson 2005-01-11 10:55:41 UTC
in cvs. thanks.
