GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 147946
Transaction reminder with variable amount doesn't display value field
Last modified: 2018-06-29 20:45:30 UTC
A scheduled transaction A is created with a variable amount X and a reminder of N days. The reminder window eventually will displays this transaction as as being N days away. Highlighting this transaction and pressing the "Next" button will display transaction X in the "To-Create Transaction Preparation" window highlighted with the state "Needs values for variables". At this point one should see the variable and a field to enter the variable in the "Variables" pane. However, variable and field are not displayed. The variable and field do display, however, if the transaction X is being deselected and selected again.

I forgot to mention in the description: I'm running GC 1.8.9.
Clicking Next in the dialog will display the variables in 1.8.12. This seems to be not a bug, the initiator simply hasn't gone far enough into the SLR dialog to get to where he is prompted for the variables.
I disagree with comment #3. This is still a problem in GC 1.9.8. The problem also shows up if an SX which requires a variable to be entered had previously been postponed and is the first (highlighted) SX in the "To-create Transaction Preparation" window. Please see the screen shot as an example: http://www.englisch.us/~volker/G2_Testing/SXNoFielda.jpg After changing the status from "Postponed" to "Create as Scheduled" the variable to be entered is not displayed in the "Variables" pane. See: http://www.englisch.us/~volker/G2_Testing/SXNoFieldb.jpg I have to deselect and reselect the transaction for the variable field to be visible/enterable to finish preparing this transaction. See: http://www.englisch.us/~volker/G2_Testing/SXNoFieldc.jpg I hope this clarifies what's actually happening.
Obsolete on trunk, post-15399 (sx-cleanup branch merge). This code and UI is gone, and the new code shouldn't exhibit the problem.
