GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 143195
cannot copy and paste from archive to another
Last modified: 2012-06-20 08:15:21 UTC
File roller Version-2.6.0 1)Launch-->applications-->system tools-->archive manager 2)open any two existing archives 3)Highlight any existing file in the archive -->right click copy 4)Paste on the other archive Observation and bug:Cannot copy and paste from one archive to another NOTE: drag and drop works
Yogeesh: When I follow the steps mentioned by you above and select a file in one of archives and right-click .... the copy option is disabled (greyed-out) ... Is this what you mean by "Cannot copy" in your observation.
Currently 'copy/cut' and 'paste' is not available between two File-Roller windows. But this seems to be a very good enhancement. This could be achieved using IPC Mechanism. Probably Message Queues would be useful. But, we need to diffentiate between 'cut/copy' and 'paste' within the same FRWindow(archive) and that between two different FRWindows(archives).
you can drag and drop between the windows

#153255 is about the copy/paste between nautilus and file-roller, I think that's the same issue
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/file-roller/+bug/23001 is a corresponding Ubuntu bug.
This feature is available since version 2.19.2.
