GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 140758
[sdlvideosink] does only support YUV
Last modified: 2011-05-20 13:46:40 UTC
The sdlvideosink element does only support YUV at the moment while SDL itself supports depending on the platform but mostly all the depths.
sdlvideosink uses SDL overlays, which only support YUV. Eventually, someone could write code that outputs to SDL video surfaces, but that's not likely.
Copying Jan for comment, as he hacked on sdl recently
What they say is true. It's a fair cop, but society's to blame. I haven't heard much demand for us to write RGB support for SDL video sink, and I have no need for it.
We don't normally keep track of enhancement bugs that no developer is interested in, or nobody is working on. This bug doesn't qualify, so should probably be closed.
closing as wontfix due to Davids comment from 3 years ago :)
