GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 139908
Add keyboard shortcut to change view
Last modified: 2005-07-07 10:14:15 UTC
Please include keyboard shortcuts for 'View as Icons' and 'View as List' (and maybe 'View as ...'). Both view modes have their pros and cons, so I switch fairly often (and asume others do as well).
Yep. The Mac Finder uses: as Icons cmd-1 as List cmd-2 as Columns cmd-3 This makes sense to me. For Nautilus, we could make Icons = ctrl-1, List = ctrl-2, and then keep on numbering (ctrl-3, ...) any other views (up to 9, if anybody has that many). Plus, I keep pressing ctrl-2 to try to switch to list-view. I don't know if there are many other Mac + Gnome people out there, but all else being equal, it would be nice to use the same shortcuts to make it easier on people.

Created attachment 48770 [details] [review] Proposed patch #3 (against HEAD). From [1]: "I think you should just ignore index 0 and not have an accelerator for the extra view." [1] http://mail.gnome.org/archives/nautilus-list/2005-July/msg00060.html
Thanks for your efforts, the next Nautilus 2.11 release will ship with these accelerators.
