this has more to do with professional appearance than a sense of humor.
if you desire for gnome to be taken seriously there is a need to appear
serious.

having been involved in a 7+ year legal nightmare, i am certain that
there is a lawyer out there who would love to test the above statement
in a court of law.

Please give references where seriousness in source code is causally related (or
even correlated with) being taken seriously.  What may seem obvious to you is
not obvious to me.

Also note that lawyers like to be paid, and so are likely to choose an easier
target than a silly comment that is, at most, a parody of a legal document.
