Description Benjamin Rich 2004-03-28 21:52:17 UTC
run 'nautilus --no-desktop' in an environment other than GNOME (in this case,
XFCE4 4.0.4).

Rather than the spatial windows coming up with icons representing each
folder/file, every icon is the 'blank sheet of paper with a shadow' icon, i.e.
absolute basic stored 'cannot find a corresponding icon for this file' icon.
Comment 1 Calvin Walton 2004-03-30 03:14:03 UTC
Try running 'gnome-theme-manager' in the background so nautilus can find out
what theme to use.
Comment 2 Arwed v. Merkatz 2004-04-05 18:19:50 UTC
The problem is that nautilus needs gnome-settings-daemon running to display
icons, and gnome-settings-daemon won't run in XFce 4 because that has its own X
settings manager.
Comment 3 James Willcox 2004-04-08 18:41:52 UTC
if XFCE has its own settings manager, then it needs to set the Net/IconThemeName
setting or something like that. Closing this as NOTGNOME.
