GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 137697
Galeon freezes, but doesn't exit when stoped
Last modified: 2009-08-15 18:40:50 UTC
http://bugs.debian.org/236403 reports a reproducible (for him) freeze, with strace offer: If i point galeon to http://www.lycoris.com it freezes (probably due to flash content of the website). So i stop it through the window manager(wmaker) and rerun it from command line, when it freezes instantly on startup. Checking running jobs i discovered that i still had four instances of galeon-bin and a gconfd running. After killing those galeon could run again. I can reproduce the bug every time i try. I have a strace of a successful bug reproduction session, it's 4 MB long, i can send it to you if you want to.
This is almost certainly a problem with the flash plugin. The reporter should upgrade to the latest mozilla / galeon and flash plugin, and try again. Failing that, he should test in mozilla directly to see if it freezes.
Mark pinged the submitter in march, and I pinged him in the beginning of december, I closed the bug in Debian and notified the submitter he can reopen it if he wishes. Hence, I'm closing here too! :)
