Description Mikael Hallendal 2004-03-17 19:22:08 UTC
So, the totem right-arrow skip is too long for the Buffy intro so I'm
thinking that this can be solved in three ways.

1) Sync the skip length with the Buffy intro length

2) Add an option to select the skipping from an option menu
   Buffy intro
   X-Files intro
   ...

3) Have Totem automatically recognize the Buffy intro and skip it
   automatically.

Maybe we can add a fuzzy slider?
Comment 2 seth vidal 2004-03-17 19:56:32 UTC
Wait! you want to skip the buffy intro!?!? The nerfherder theme is to
die for, you should fall into a state of rapt ecstasy each time you
hear it and long for it ever more for the next one.

Phillistine!
Comment 3 Havoc Pennington 2004-03-17 20:06:37 UTC
+1 to seth's viewpoint, you must watch the buffy intro each time!
Comment 4 Alan Horkan 2004-03-17 20:47:58 UTC
How long exactly is the skip length?

I'd geuss it is set at 30 seconds by default (or similar) to allow you
to easily skip through advertisements of recorded TV?

The Simpsons is about the only show I'm willing to watch the intro.
sequence of but I wouldn't want the skip length to be broken for other
more practical purposes.

Well, yeah sure, you need to do the Buffy dance, but I'm more of a
Buffy theme song dancer at the end of the episode than in the
beginning, wonder if we can have Totem move the intro to the end of
the episode instead?
Comment 6 Raphael Schmid 2004-03-17 22:15:26 UTC
+1, but only if I can have it for Enterprise, too!
Comment 7 seth vidal 2004-03-17 23:22:34 UTC
But enterprise doesn't have 7 seasons of joss whedon-y goodness to
justify special menu options. Buffy does. Having said that firefly has
only a 1/2 season of whedon-y goodness and I'd definitely want a
special menu option for it.
Comment 8 Bastien Nocera 2004-03-18 12:48:33 UTC
I'm afraid that Totem was designed to watch hardcore pr0n and pirate
movies, not TV series of below average quality (especially Enterprise,
I mean, MY GOD!).

I added a patch to configure.in to detect bad taste in TV series. and
I'll work on the flesh-tone detector instead.

        * configure.in: detect bad taste in TV series (Closes: #137526)
Comment 9 Mikael Hallendal 2004-03-18 13:06:14 UTC
You can't blame me for Enterprise, never watched an episode!

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic"?
Comment 11 Thomas Vander Stichele 2004-03-18 17:11:21 UTC
To repent I feel Mikael must re-enact the buffy musical episode at GUADEC.
Comment 12 Luis Villa 2004-03-19 09:55:56 UTC
I agree with thomas. And caught on tape.
